An HMI (Human-Machine Interface) system is a user interface or control panel that connects a person to a machine, system, or device. Although the term can technically apply to any display that allows a user to interact with a device, "HMI" is most commonly used in the context of industrial processes that control and monitor production machinery. The term "HMI" stands for "Human-Machine Interface." Such an interface may also be referred to as an operator panel, operator terminal, operator interface, or simply by the acronym HMI.
